Don Kavalec is active in the 15th, 29th, and 32nd Degree teams at Reunions. He has completed all sections of the Master Craftsman program, and is currently moderating the program. Don is also Junior Warden of Albert Pike Lodge #333 and a member of the Tangier Shrine Corvette Club.

Bro. Kavalec is a native of Omaha. He is a graduate of Benson High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from the University of Omaha and a Master degree in Business Administration from Creighton University.

Bro. Kavalec married his high school sweetheart. They have been married for fifty years and have a son and daughter and two grandchildren.

He has served the community as a member of the Board of Directors for the Red Cross, Omaha Metro YMCA, Boy Scouts and United Way of the Midlands. Before retirement, he was employed in managerial and executive positions with Northern Natural Gas, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Valmont Industries and ConAgra Foods. In his 47 years of business experience he was primarily involved in all areas of human resources, organization change, negotiation, and taught various courses in leadership development and effective communication.

His primary hobby is golf and has played internationally. He also enjoys shooting sporting clays, Kansas Jayhawk basketball, and reading.


Don is a third generation Scottish Rite Mason. He was raised in Covert Lodge #11 in 2010 and became a member of Scottish Rite and the Tangier Shrine in the same year. He is a Charter member of Albert Pike Lodge #333. He joined the Valley of Omaha Scottish Rite in 2010, and was invested with the Knight Commander of the Court of Honor in 2015.

He is a Past Master of the Knights of St. Andrew, where was also a recipient of the Dennis P. Samuelson Service Award. He was awarded Scottish Rite Outstanding New Member Award and has served on the Scottish Rite Foundation of Omaha Board.
